WOVEMENT CONTEST : meet the winner

After two months of fierce competition and duels, the WOVEMENT CONTEST has come to an end. So we took the opportunity to ask some questions to the young winner of this contest. We also want to thank all the participants and we are honored to see the enthusiasm that this contest has generated.

Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

My name is Julie Caillet-Bois, I am 20 years old and I am a student at the University of Fribourg. I live in Valais, more precisely in Les Crosets, a small ski resort which is part of the Portes des Soleil area.

How did you hear about the Wovement Contest?

I saw the Instagram story of one of the Movement ambassadors.

Why did you participate / what made you decide to participate in the Wovement Contest?

I like to draw in general and have always been connected to skiing. I've been doing it

since I was 2 years old, my father has 2 ski

stores and I live almost on the slopes. So I

thought why not try to combine the two.

On top of that, the idea of having skis that I designed and that my dad could potentially sell motivated me even more.

Can you describe your design?

I wanted to represent the mountains, which are essential for skiing. But I also wanted to bring a little more geometric/modern look to the design by drawing the triangles, which also represent mountains.

What were your inspirations for your design?

As I live in the Illiez valley, it was obvious that I had to represent the Dents du Midi, which are for me the most beautiful mountains in the world! Also, on the other ski, I tried to represent the Jungfrau, Mönch and Eiger, which are emblematic mountains of Switzerland.

Can you show us the path to the final design?

Have you ever designed anything before?

Never, except for signs for my parents' stores.

Did you expect such a success with your ski ?

I didn't think that so many people would follow the contest at first. Then I was surprised to see that many people really wanted me to win and supported me throughout the contest by advertising to their friends/family.

How does it feel to know that your skis will be produced and sold worldwide?

I can't quite put it into words yet, but I think seeing the skis in the flesh in the store will be really special.

A word about the other designs? Which one was your favorite?

I thought a lot of the designs had a really good chance of winning. It showed in the voting, which was often very close.

My favorites were :

If you were to do the contest again, what would you change?

If I could do the contest again, I think I would try to spread myself out less by doing a lot of different designs and I would focus on 2-3 skis that I would improve as much as possible.

For you Movement is .... ?

For me, Movement represents the Swiss ski, always looking for innovation and performance.

Once again, we would like to thank Julie Caillet Bois for her design and collaboration. We look forward to seeing her ski produced. We are convinced that women are still a minority in the ski industry. We are proud of the success of this contest which shows that women have an unparalleled creativity.
