Thanks to it’s unique production process, where everything from the first idea to the final construction all happen in it’s own manufacturing plant, and thanks to Swiss technical expertise, Movement has created highly technological skis at the forefront of innovation. The movement manufacture.
Movement Skis is a Swiss brand whose roots go back to 1980 when three friends created the Wild Duck snowboard brand. The epic story lasts twenty years and leaves the mark of a brand, driven by the spirit of creation, that succeeds in establishing itself and prospering in North America and Japan. The rebirth of freeskiing in the late 1990s led the company to a new technological and industrial evo-lution with the creation of Movement Skis, in parallel with the snowboard activity.
Movement Skis was born in 2000 and found itself faced with an immense virgin slope. Everything had to be invented. The second skiing revolution was underway, that of freeride and larger skis, better adapted to snow conditions; that of freestyle and the race for tricks and amplitude; that of touring and the parallel obsession with lightweight equipment. Strengthened by 20 years of experience in the snowboard industry, and a pioneering carving research, Movement positioned itself as an innovative brand with novel construction choices. In 2005, the acquisition of its own manufacturing plant, the AST Ski Factory, consolidated its independence. Freed from this production subordination, Move-ment invested in research and expanded its offer of versatile and technical skis which foretold the evo-lution of skiing. Twenty years after its inception, Movement Manufacture symbolizes this unique al-chemy between a team, an independent research and production process, and creative vivacity.
Thanks to this control of the production chain, the creative and cheeky spirit of the early days has been able to thrive. This freedom is now reflected in the fabrication of ski touring models - .freetouring compatible. - i.e., skis that seek not only to go downhill, but also to move around the mountain independently. The ultimate goal of riding down mountain slopes remains, but we are now free to choose the movement that will take us there.
1980
During this year, a small brand just out of a cellar in Vevey was born. It was Wild Duck. Serge Baud and his associates created this brand of disruptive snowboards dedicated to snowboard enthusiasts. The adventure had just begun...
2000
The Movement brand was born in 2000 with a desire to democratize the practice of skiing. Very inspired by snowboarding, the brand quickly established itself as disruptive and always creating.
2005
The brand officially acquires its very own production facility, the AST ski factory in Tunisia. With this unique setup, MOVEMENT ensures total production independence and flexibility, boosting the brand’s technological development. From this year, innovations are added every year to ski constructions and materials making MOVEMENT one of the most innovative and advanced specialized ski references.
2018
While looking to expand its offering in the ski market, Movement is launching its first ski boot collection in 2018. The brand specialises solely in ski touring boots. The practice of touring is developing and the offer is still poor. Movement adapts to the market and meets the needs of all mountain enthusiasts.
1990
After 10 years of producing snowboards, Serge Baud and his associates felt that snowboarding was losing its momentum. They decided to create the first carving skis in the form of prototypes. Very few brands were present on the market and the technology related to skis was still very little developed.
2003
The brand starts to take over Europe and becomes a dedicated Freeski developer. At that time riding powder was getting more popular and people not only wanted to go down but also to go up. A lighter version and also one of the first touring skis were designed and developed with success.
2010
Freestyle skiing is evolving and more and more people are taking to the snow parks. Movement created a new range: the FLY. This series is intended for all newschool skiers doing park and backcountry. Fly with style.
2022
